Samsung Electronics on Tuesday, May 13 unveiled its slimmest flagship smartphone to date, the Galaxy S25 Edge, measuring just 5.8 millimetres in thickness.
The launch positions the tech giant ahead of competitors in the race to deliver sleek, AI-powered mobile devices.
The Galaxy S25 Edge, part of Samsung’s 2025 premium lineup, integrates artificial intelligence across its operating system, enhancing personalisation, camera functions, and overall device performance.
Despite its ultra-thin frame, the device maintains battery efficiency through upgraded components and improved internal cooling technology.
The smartphone is priced from $1,099, approximately ₦1.66 million based on current exchange rates, and will be available globally later this month. Pre-orders have commenced in selected regions.
Samsung says the Galaxy S25 Edge is engineered to be not only slimmer but also smarter, catering to consumers seeking advanced design.
“The Galaxy S25 Edge represents our commitment to pushing boundaries in both form and function,” a Samsung spokesperson said during the virtual launch event. “This device is not just thinner, it’s smarter, more powerful, and designed to adapt to the user.”
The launch comes ahead of Apple’s anticipated unveiling of a slimmer iPhone later this year, suggesting increased competition in the premium smartphone segment.
Samsung continues to lead the global smartphone market, and the introduction of the S25 Edge is seen as a strategic effort to maintain that position by combining aesthetic innovation with practical technological advancements.
